Background

Jointly organized by the Arab Development Portal (ADP) and the Arab Institute for Training in Research and Statistics (AITRS), the Regional Workshop on the Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) in its fifth version will take place from 9 to 14 July in Marrakesh, Morocco. The GSBPM, an initiative that started under the umbrella of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN-ECE), Eurostat and OECD in 2007 provides a reference framework that promotes the use of harmonized terminology and offers a structure for organizing documentation that would assist statistical organizations in modernizing and standardizing their statistical production processes and sharing methods and promote the adoption of good practices. The workshop not only aims to train participants on concepts but also to accompany them in applying the model on various statistical operations within their organizations.

Main objectives

The training workshop aims at developing the capacities and skills of statistical experts at National Statistical Organizations and other national data providers through enhancing the understanding of the statistical production processes and creating an added value to the statisticians’ work. The training workshop will be: (1) providing a general introduction to the conceptual foundation of the model and a review of its recent developments, phases, uses and national implementations; (2) comparing this model with other standardized models, such as Common Statistical Production Architecture, Generic Statistical Information Model, etc.., (3) mapping data production processes to GSBPM and (4) introducing GSBPM in documentation, quality and metadata management.
