Country Mission: “Scoping and Training”
The mission is designed as a multi-purpose mission that will be conducted in partnership with UNDP Iraq, the Council of Ministers and the Commission of Integrity.
Aiming at delivering specialized training to promote transparency and accountability in the health and customs sectors, while also serving as a scoping mission on the opportunities and challenges arising in relation to specific reforms in those two sectors, as well as corruption vulnerabilities in the justice sectors and other key sectors.
The mission shall also feature a number of technical sessions to follow up on the action plan developed in 2016 -currently being implemented with the support of UNDP Iraq- to enable the Government to investigate high-level corruption cases and reform related processes and structures.
In parallel, the mission shall include a national workshop on “the right of access to information: international standards and comparative experiences”. Its aim is to raise the awareness of key stakeholders on related good practices and lessons learned and to jointly review the progress achieved towards the adoption of a similar law in Iraq and formulate related recommendations as applicable.
