Overview
Doha - Qatar
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with Qatar Social Work Foundation (QSWF),  United Nations Population Fund/ Arab Region (UNFPA), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and the League of Arab States (LAS), will organize in Doha, between 20-21 April 2016, an Arab Regional Conference to address the "Role of Civil Society in Implementing Global Sustainable Development Agenda 2030". 

This Conference will be the first event, at the Global and Regional levels, to discuss the involvement of Civil Society Organizations as a partner and actor in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On 25 September 2015, the 193 member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

1.Accommodation and Venue of the meeting

1.1 Meeting venue:

1.2. Interpretation
There will be simultaneous interpretation in Arabic and English languages.

1.3. Hotel Accommodation
Participants are expected to arrive on 19 April and depart on 22 April 2016.
Bed & Breakfast will be covered by Qatar Social Work (QSW) for the duration of the meeting in addition to nights required by travel constraints.
Please fill in the attached registration form (Annex - II) with the relevant details and return it to the Qatar Social Work Team copying UNDP Team by 13 April 2016 latest.
Participants are kindly requested to cover extra expenses incurred during their stay such as mini-bar, alcohol, telephone calls, laundry, business center, spa, etc.

1.4. Lunches and Dinners
Participants can have lunch and/or dinner at the hotel main restaurant. Qatar Social Work (QSW) will cover the cost of your lunches and/or dinners for the duration of the conference in addition to nights required by travel constraints. 2.Travel/ Admin Requirements
UNDP Office at your respective country will arrange for your travel. You should be contacted shortly in this regard. If not, please contact us (UNDP Team) immediately to follow up with your UNDP CO focal point to avoid problems or delays with the issuance of your ticket.

2.1. Visa Formalities
Participants travelling with national passports from non-restricted countries (refer to Annex – I here enclosed) don’t require a pre-approved visa prior to travelling to the State of Qatar. Those travelling with valid UNLP or with national passport from restricted countries (any country that is not mentioned in Annex I) are required to obtain visa prior to travelling. UNDP in coordination with Qatar Social Work (QSW) may facilitate your entry visa to the State of Qatar on your behalf. Please send us a colored scanned copy of your UNLP and/or national passport as soon as possible to avoid problems or delays.

2.2. Transportation
Qatar Social Work (QSW) shall provide "Meet/Assist and transportation” From Hamad International Airport to the Hotel and vice versa. A sign with the name of your nominees will be shown at the airport for easy guide.

2.3. Air ticket Confirmation:
For re-confirmation of your return flight, please give your ticket to the Hotel’s Concierge to assist on this matter.

3.Facilities

3.1. Fax/ E-mail/Printing
A business center is available at the Hotel for Fax/e-mail and printing of documents. Participants are kindly requested to cover extra expenses incurred from using the hotel business center services.

3.2. Internet
Free wireless connection will be available in both the rooms and the meeting room.

3.3. Voltage
The voltage in the State of Qatar is 220-240 Volts. The majority outlets accept one type of plug with three rectangular British style pins. If you travel to the State of Qatar with a device that does not accept 220-240 Volts, you will need a voltage converter. Although most laptops are designed for travellers with auto-sense and auto-switch between 110 and 240 volts, participants need to check for this capability before bringing their equipment to the State of Qatar. If a laptop does not have the right plug, you will also need to bring a plug adapter.

3.4. Currency and Exchange Rate
Exchange rate: US$ 1.00 = QAR 3.641 (as per UN April 2016 exchange rate https://treasury.un.org/operationalrates/)
The US dollar is accepted in the local market. Visa, Master Card & American Express are widely used in the State of Qatar. Keep a few small notes (US$1) handy for tips to porters, bell boys, etc.

3.5. Weather
High temperatures in April range from 30°C (86°F) to 34°C (93.2°F), while night-time temperatures may fall as low as 20°C (68°F)
