During the six working days, UNDP will run a social innovation camp for youth from various countries in the Arab Region. The activities of the camp will be run using the design- thinking approach; an interactive and innovative approach that uses social empathy exercises to identify and define the problems, and solutions mapping exercises to test possible solutions. The camp will be centered around youth civic and political participation in the Middle East and North Africa region. Specifically, the youth will be asked to find innovative solutions to the low voter turnout and lack of civic engagement among young men and women in the Arab region. Using a solutions-mapping process, the youth participants are expected to submit proposed solutions to the identified problems and then run short ‘experiments’ or prototyping exercises to test the ideas, which the regional programme will then use to design activities to promote youth political participation in the MENA region.
